Artist Statement
The inspiration for my project is an excerpt from my life. It is the chapter from my own idyllic childhood experience of growing up on a farm in the countryside. I have captured the traces of my memories from those nostalgic times and used them as the inspiration for my designs.
My memories result in an eclectic and at times surreal mix from my childhood experience of farm life due to shifting seasons and work focus. My captured memories that are portrayed are appearing brightly out from the dark storage of my memory.
Some memories are obvious as to what they depict while others are hazier, incomplete yet decipherable. Mundane farm items become decorative avant-garde designs which intrigue and entice the viewer.
I have created interior products which are aimed at the alternative, quirky high-end market. My textiles straddle the borders of fine art and design.
